Have you found the coexist bumper sticker that seems to be appearing on more and more cars everyday? Is this the latest ‘movement’ or just another craze? Are you in favor of coexistence and tolerance or do you feel it is just wishful thinking? Funny, how the coexist bumper sticker can trigger so many questions at one time.
Coexist Bumper Sticker: What Exactly Does It Mean?
The letters that spell coexist use different religious symbols to represent the different religions. Here are the letters used and what religion they are for.
C – This is a crescent moon that represents Islam
O – This is the peace symbol or pagan/Wiccan pentacle.
E – It is the male/female symbol or a scientific equation.
X – This is the Star of David and represents Judaism.
I – It is a pagan/Wiccan symbol used.
S – This is a Chinese yin-yang symbol.
T – The cross is used to represent Christianity.
It seems that just about everybody has an opinion and they seem to slide to the far right or the far left in many cases. The coexist bumper sticker appears to be quite a hot button indeed. If you are not familiar with this sticker it is actually a sticker that spells out the word COEXIST using different religious symbols for each of the letters of the word. This word “Coexist” literally means to exist in the same space as somebody else. Indicating that all beliefs and religions should aim to live together in peace. The Coexist Foundation aims to increase communication and cooperation between Jews, Christians and Muslims. If you are a fan of peace this possibly sounds pretty good. We should try to coexist in peace as long as we don’t begin to force our beliefs on the rest that ‘believe wrong’. We would probably need to draw the line if a religion calls for the extermination or subjugation of another group of people.
The coexist bumper sticker is a grass-roots promotion of tolerance between different philosophies. Also, a coexist bumper sticker on your car means that humanity and nature are parts of the same whole. Another coexistence movement is the promotion of tolerance between “straight” and “non-straight” people. If people could just act in a cultured manner around his point then coexistence might be realistic. Laws geared towards proper conduct and behavior are needed, to be sure. There will often be those that just won’t play nice. Never the less, laws that try to govern the beliefs of others are practically out of the question to enforce and almost useless at the outset.
Life is about choices and always will be. Initially man had the choice to believe God and not eat from the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, or decide not to believe the term God had given about that issue and believe the ‘other word’ provided by Satan. We all know how that turned out. We don’t have to believe everybody is right to get along but we need to respect someone’s right to believe differently or even wrongly as long as it doesn’t infringe on our rights to exist peacefully. Intentional community life, whether in a planned co-housing development or a shared house or commune, is an exercise in coexistence, cooperation and learning.
Now that you have been enlightened to the coexist bumper sticker meaning, you can see how it is designed to promote peace and coexistence among different people, no matter what your religion is. All in all, the coexistence is a lofty goal at most but it needn’t be considered a threat in our lives. Click Here to Learn More…
